Before reading this article, please consider this message from a woman who runs a charitable organization in Barrie and Simcoe County who is now blocked from accessing our fully donated community media services.
"Mr. Ironside. I run the xxx foundation. We met at the xxx event, held by xxx. You brought coffee and doughnuts from the craft table for my team and me, as it was not fully accessible to people with mobility limitations. Your story filled me with incredulity. If I had read it without knowing who you are, I would likely have disbelieved it. I read it with interest and am fully disgusted with your mayor and Chamber of Commerce. You have contacted them multiple times, but they think they can avoid accountability and public scrutiny for their actions, which is unacceptable given the impact of their decisions on the community. We are sharing it in our bulletin with all of our members. We also reach a few other associated volunteer groups, so you can expect to hear from them as well. We will be doing that on April 1st. I will be calling when I know more, likely by Wednesday. Should we set up a time to chat?"
Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall is accused of causing the sick, injured, and children to suffer for his benefit
What would you call a career politician who knowingly puts his own selfish political ambitions ahead of the health and even mortality of children fighting cancer? Well, that is what we are dealing with in Barrie, as Mayor Alex Nuttall is accused by three non-associated business owners of taking actions that have brought harm to at least 180 local charities, not-for-profits, and benevolent organizations that serve those in need of assistance in Barrie and surrounding communities.
Despite being offered more than half a dozen chances to deny it, Alex Nuttall hides from our evidence.
An honest man denounces such claims, but instead, Alex Nuttall has, throughout the past year, abused taxpayer funded services like By-Law and Property Standards for the City of Barrie to try to silence the truth. He has also instructed officers of the Barrie Police Service to arrest a journalist, in a public park, for reporting on abuses of authority, and multiple violations of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which were being afflicted against those suffering in the homeless community, who Alex Nuttall knows cannot defend themselves.
When dealing with a self-aggrandizer, like Alex Nuttall, who chooses to hide rather than face accountability, we sometimes have little choice but to publicly taunt him, and to goad a response through visual parody.
Mayor Alex Nuttall Salutes Philanthropy Through Repeated Abuses Of His Voter Granted Authority
Starting in 2015, and continuing through the pandemic to 2025, Five Points Media operated as a strictly voluntary, benevolent service to our community, through which we donated more than $700,000.00 in services to a minimum of 180 local charities, not-for-profits, and benevolent community groups. Our gifts to the community came in the form of more than 350 fundraising and public information videos.
Our commitment to our community was officially recognized in 2021, when our crew was nominated and voted to the highest levels for the City of Barrie and Barrie Chamber of Commerce ‘Paying It Forward’ award for altruism.
Then, we produced a video that did not praise Alex Nuttall, which caused him to protect his fragile ego, and his need to be in 'total control' immediately eclipsed the best interests of our community.
No other similar service is known to exist in Canada.
Abusing Taxpayer Funded City of Barrie Resources for Intimidation
This is the act of nature that hit both sides of our studios.
It resulted in one of the eavestroughs being pulled down.
By-Law Enforcement manufactured a complaint about our dogs.
Why did a supervisor so obviously back-peddle about the fake dog complaint?
What was the reason for 96 visits in one day to the page about our dogs?
City Hall thinks they can bully us into not exposing Mayor Alex Nuttall.
This is the eavestrough to a neighbour behind our studio, yet he has received no citation.
What kind of a weak ass politician needs to abuse the authority of the office he won by a minority vote to cover for his own mistakes, rather than taking responsibility for his actions? Mayor Alex Nuttall appears quite content with taking everybody in City Hall down with him.
Every time that Mayor Alex Nuttall ordered a City of Barrie department to abuse its 'authority' to coerce our silence, the department heads or legal counsel for the City of Barrie folded and ran away from their abuses of authority. In each case, they dropped all charges as soon as we challenged any of them to support their claims at a tribunal or in a court of law, where they would have to rely on evidence instead of intimidation. Evidently, they were expecting us to do like every other intended victim who has been targeted by Mayor Alex Nuttall. We were supposed to pay the fine, take our lumps, and quietly go away defeated.
Sadly, for Alex Nuttall, that is just not our style.
I am a veteran and a former international journalist who has worked in places like the war-torn Balkans and Middle East. Freedom to tell the truth is very important to me. I have been in countries where locals were killed for speaking out, and I was not going to have some privileged bully tell me what we can talk about. We chose instead to expose what Alex Nuttall was doing to the taxpayers of Barrie, and to establish with evidence how he is showing himself to be nothing but a pusillanimous intimidator who, when challenged, runs away seeking easier prey, such as by further abusing those who are the most vulnerable members of our society, as cowardly thugs like to pick on people who cannot fight back.
We have now firmly established that every time the bully who is our mayor abuses his authority to try to silence the truth, he is going to receive a punch in the nose . . . metaphorically speaking of course. 😉
He who controls the media controls the minds of voters
We are progressive media, and for more than 15 years, we have been donating our services completely free of charge to any local charity, not-for-profit, or benevolent group that asked for our help. Alex Nuttall is a long-term Conservative, and their philosophy on philanthropy is based more on what return they get for their investment. So, it came as little surprise when we were told that Alex Nuttall chose to see us as an enemy. Weak men in positions of power need to control everything, including the local media. Our barely elected mayor, Alex Nuttall knew he could not control us, so he opted to remove us from the scenario.
Alex Nuttall knew about our charitable work, and how we had helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in aid for those in need, but he put his ego and interests first, regardless of the damage he was doing.
During the last campaign, in 2022, I saw Alex Nuttall at an event for Ukraine held at Meridian Place. I was there to record the event, and he was there to rub elbows with those who might contribute to his campaign. He knew me, and had worked with me, but Alex Nuttall went out of his way to avoid eye contact, or any kind of acknowledgement, and he certainly was not coming over to say 'hi'. I had donated some video services to a progressive candidate who I now regret having supported, and I thought maybe that was it. However, in retrospect, most candidates can be civil to opponents, and to those supporting them, and they can even be 'political friendly'. Alex Nuttall's demeanor was not that of a strong leader, but more the nervousness of a very awkward man.
Confident candidates do not need to see ideological opponents as enemies.
To our mind, our service was to help the community, and it was non-political.
Between shots, Alex Nuttall and our Producer spoke about the community.
He said he knew of our work and approved of community media.
They discussed how they both immigrated as children from the UK.
There was no animosity, awkwardness, or ill ease.
Nobody could have predicted the path Alex Nuttall would chose.
From our perspective, there was never any reason for animosity between the new mayor and our service. We had in fact worked with Alex Nuttall in 2017 to produce a junior hockey anti-bullying video that had been organized by a street outreach worker from the CMHA. We had also never said a bad word about him when he was our federal member of parliament.
It became clear that if you were not working in support of Alex Nuttall, you were his enemy, which is the mindset of narcissistic personality disorder.
We also got along reasonably well with members of council, and with local Conservative representatives on the provincial and federal levels. Our paths crossed frequently, and we had produced videos with Andrea Khanjin and John Brassard. We don’t recall working with Doug Shipley, but we were in the habit of sharing his community-oriented posts, and we never had any conflict.
Our donated community media service is meant to help the community and is non-political.
The video about the inhumane bylaws proposed by City Council was not political but was of public interest. After all, city council is not supposed to be party political, and is meant to be non-partisan, so how could we be choosing sides? The importance of the issue was demonstrated by how news outlets from across Ontario travelled to Barrie to report on the story, so why wouldn't we do so? Canada is a free country, and media are allowed to express views that are not popular with sitting politicians. As we will cover in greater details below, no government official at any level has the right or authority to censor journalists just because what they say may be critical or uncomfortable.
We are advised by reliable sources, who are part of the Barrie Chamber of Commerce, and by people who work for the City of Barrie and inside City Hall, that it did not take long for Alex Nuttall to abuse his authority and even taxpayer funded City of Barrie resources to start staining our reputation and smearing the name of our commercial division, 3B Solutions, with those in the local business community through what we are told were slanderous attacks by staff of the office of the mayor, and representatives of the Barrie Chamber of Commerce.
Those are the same self-serving hypocrites who a few months earlier were lauding our commitment to our community, and our contributions to those in need, as we were nominees for the city's award for altruism.
The executive of the Barrie Chamber of Commerce had supported City Council’s Draconian plans for eliminating the victims of homelessness though social murder, so it came as little surprise that they would be used to attack anybody who Alex Nuttall saw as part of a blood feud that existed nowhere but within his paranoid delusions. It also did not take them long to forget how we had created more than thirty videos, fully donated, for the Barrie Chamber of Commerce to use for one of their annual business awards ceremonies. The level of hypocrisy of these supposedly respect-worthy offices, that of the mayor and the Barrie Chamber of Commerce was well beyond contempt.
So, who poked first, the poor philanthropists who gave daily to their community for a decade, or the weak politician, twice accused of defrauding voters, who 'won' his election with only 12.91% support?
Most people would take a hint when their 'beloved' church speaks out against them
It is reported by several reliable sources that immediately after taking office, Alex Nuttall let it be known that all that mattered in the City of Barrie and our City Hall are his authority, and his opinion. Those allegations came to us directly from City Councillors who are too afraid to speak out publicly, staff at City Hall who say they need to duck and cover if they want to keep their jobs, and members of the local clergy, who tried without success to steer Alex Nuttall in a direction that would enable the compassionate response to the homelessness crisis that recent polls show is wanted by more than eighty percent of Ontario residents.
Quid Pro Quo has also been reported, like what happened when Donald Trump withheld U.S. military aid to pressure Ukraine to make false allegations against Hunter Biden, which led to the first impeachment of the Combover Caligula.
“I’m tired of talking to the mayor. I’m tired of being shouted at. I’m tired of being insulted. I’m tired of sitting through meetings for hours and hours and hours, when he’s belligerent, and horrible, and nasty, and insulting to us. So, I’ve given up on that conversation. And so, for me personally, I’m organizing active defiance. That’s what I’m doing.” - Reverend Canon Simon Bell, St. Margaret Anglican Church, Barrie
There are also various unconfirmed allegations floating the ether of the Internet claiming that our 'do as I preach, not as I live' Pharisaical mayor puts on appearances by asking people looking for official help from the City of Barrie to discuss their religious views, and even to pray with him. In Canada, such a show of piety is unlawful at all levels of government, which are required to remain religiously neutral. A public official cannot compel, pressure, or condition access to services, employment, participation, or favourable treatment based on prayer or religious observance, even if the official shows no signs of truly being of faith. Requiring someone to pray for official services from the City of Barrie would also violate the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Freedom of conscience and religion, as outlined in Section 2(a) of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, protects every Canadian's right to practice a religion, to not practice any religion, and the right not to be coerced into religious activity. Forced prayer, even if purely for show, equals religious coercion, which is unconstitutional, and therefore unlawful.
Alex Nuttall claims to be a 'devout' Christian when fleecing the faithful for election campaign funds, but being abusive to our homeless, and acting in a way that hurts people in need are antithetical to scripture.
It was in 2023 when Alex Nuttall initiated a plan that he knew would prevent our support of the charities of Barrie and neighbouring communities. It is reported that he initiated a campaign, using his influence over the Barrie Chamber of Commerce, with the plan being to to silence our voice within the community. The reason, reportedly, was because he didn’t like that we showed compassion to those trapped in the homeless community when City Council tried to pass bylaws that would have likely caused death by social murder, with the direct reasons being starvation and exposure. We were far from the only ones who spoke out, as City Hall was overwhelmed by hundreds of disapproving citizens, and media from across Ontario.
The attempt to criminalize compassion failed, and our mayor was humiliated, so apparently Alex Nuttall decided to make us pay for his self-serving delusions.
Section 2B of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms states: "Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms: freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication." The key word is ‘Everyone’ which does not just apply to Alex Nuttall and those who choose to grovel at his feet for fear or favour.
As a result of his toddler's tantrum, Alex Nuttall violated public trust, and he abused the authority of his elected office. He also violated our rights as journalists, which he did so he could take action that he knew would hurt hundreds of people in need of support in the City of Barrie that he is sworn to serve to the best of his ability. He knew what we did for our community, and how much we helped organizations to raise money and educate the public about the issues that so heinously restrict the lives of the afflicted. However, our mayor, who claims to be a devout Christian, simply didn’t care. What apparently mattered to him was that somebody did not agree with him, and they had the nerve to say so publicly in a way that reach tens of thousands of people.
It is truly incredible how often the words 'narcissistic personality disorder' are in the answer when Google searches a description of the personality traits of our mayor who is always right.
The legacy of Alex Nuttall's term in office will haunt him for decades
Our pusillanimous mayor is also responsible for our exposure of his various abuses, as he has been offered multiple opportunities to discuss his affronts to our democracy, and his abuses of taxpayer trust, but he has consistently chosen to hide.
Our articles and videos are not going anywhere, and neither are the various unchallenged stories we have posted on Facebook.
It costs about $10.00 a year to host the domain, and we are paying in advance for at least a decade. That means that regardless of whatever happens to me, those who might want to financially support or vote for Alex Nuttall should he find another public trough to gorge at will be finding our stories for the next twenty or so years.
Currently, due to Alex Nuttall’s need to hide from his own abuses, we are seeing about 1,500 hits a day on our website, mostly on the stories about Alex Nuttall, and our Facebook is hit 300,000 times a month, or about 10,000 times a day. In the digital world, there is nowhere to hide.
Nobody has the right to hurt charities and other benevolent groups, and especially when they have taken an oath to act always in the best interests of the community they are supposed to be serving.
As we are a not-profit-motivated social enterprise, Alex Nuttall likely mistook us for an easy target and probably thought he could use us as an example to others of the ‘power’ he thought he held as mayor. After all, he had the resources of a city behind him, and an entire police department, and a legal division full of in-house lawyers with others on retainer. What chance did our little David service have against Alex Nuttall's army of Goliaths? However, three years later, our exposure of the truth is sinking Alex Nuttall's re-election potential somewhere deep in Kempenfelt Bay, while we have tripled our true following, and we are being supported both morally and financially by all the people, businesses, and organizations that just cannot stand Alex Nuttall, even if they had to kiss the ring and play nice to stay in business.
Eventually, every bully tries to take the lunch money of the wrong guy, which in this case ended up with Alex Nuttall nursing a nosebleed that just won’t stop . . . metaphorically speaking.
I have never been able to stand bullies, as they are cowards who abuse the advantages nature gave them to harm others, and I have always been happy to step up for those who have been victimized. In this case, those abused are charities, not-for-profits, and benevolent groups that work hard to help those in need in their community. They do not deserve to have their efforts quelled by an arrogant and threatening thug who displays all the traits and characteristics of narcissistic personality disorder. Alex Nuttall is the worst possible kind of person to be mayor of a city, as he clearly does not care who he hurts, and his actions scream that he cannot see past his own best interests. Our determination to quell abuses and intimidation has resulted in a 100% success rate defeating wealthy and connected individuals and corporations that abuse the true purpose and intent of the law to coerce others to do as they demand.
Making a new business an offer they can't refuse
What we recorded of that conversation will end careers.
The owners are nice people, who did nothing to be put in this position.

There is no honour in Barrie's City Council
A few weeks after we released, "Standing with our Homeless Neighbours", we were approached by the first of what would become three local business owners. The three individuals were from different industries, and they were not in any way associated, other to maybe recognise each other at business events. They each reported that it was at such gatherings that representatives for Alex Nuttall’s office and management for the Barrie Chamber of Commerce warned local business owners not to hire our commercial division, 3B Solutions, which they knew was the sole source of income for our not-profit-motivated, social enterprise, community media service.
It was at the grand opening of an established commercial client’s business that we saw and recorded the defamation being spread like rancid butter by Mayor Alex Nuttall and Paul Markle, Executive Director of the Barrie Chamber of Commerce. At one point, I pointed the ultra-directional microphone of my broadcast video camera at them while they chatted with our client, and when this comes to court, Alex Nuttall and the executive of the Barrie Chamber of Commerce are not going to like what I recorded.
The beauty of having a state-of-the-art media studio is that our technology can do cool things like strip all background sound and make a conversation across a room as clear as a if the camera was a foot away.
Despite having had amazing things to say about our services, just the previous week, that client suddenly cut off all communications and never hired us again, as was also true of several others. We do not know all that was said, but we could see the mood of the conversation.
It was like watching gangsters working extortion:
"Nice brewery you got here. It would be a shame to see a vat damaged."
If I was asked to describe it, including what I did record, I would say that Alex Nuttall, acting at the event as Mayor of Barrie, and Paul Markle, acting as Executive Director of the Barrie Chamber of Commerce, were strongarming the owner of a fledgling business who knew he needed the assistance of both to succeed.
All of this evidence will be revealed in court, and then released to the court of public opinion
Standing Up To A Bully
Now the City of Barrie and Mayor Alex Nuttall have shown, no less than three times, that they are afraid of challenging us, or perhaps more accurately, they are rightfully intimidated by the evidence we hold of their wrongful actions. Now we are free to dig up the truth, share it with taxpayers, and have a little fun posting relevant parody. According to our research, nothing bothers a person showing the traits of a narcissist like being humiliated and laughed at by those they are trying to intimidate. Their gamble was that nobody would fight back, as the abuses were only for small amounts of money, but some people in this world have honour and ethics, both of which are clearly missing currently within our city hall.
We are progressive media, which means we put people ahead of profit, and we are concerned about social issues like homelessness, affordable housing, misuse of public funds, equal representation for all in both government and society, and of course civil rights, as are granted to ALL Canadian citizens and residents under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
It was on June 17, 2025, that we first exposed these abuses of authority by Alex Nuttall and Paul Markle, of the Barrie Chamber of Commerce. Over the next five weeks, we posted four more articles. So, it is easy to establish that we are not just pulling this out of the air now for effect. Despite our very public allegations, neither Alex Nuttall nor Paul Markle have contested a single word of our reporting, and neither have legal counsel for the City of Barrie or the Barrie Chamber of Commerce.
The likely reason is that Alex Nuttall and his lackeys know we are able to prove our claims, and they are hoping the story just goes away with time.

This week, we once again awoke the beast by reviving this story through several articles. We also wrote again to the mayor asking him to disprove our claims on camera. We don’t expect any kind of response, which is true to form for Alex Nuttall when dealing with media he cannot control. Unlike him, we don’t need to control the narrative, which is why we are offering him the opportunity to disprove our allegations.
We are confident enough to offer Alex Nuttall the chance to refute our claims, and when he fears to face our evidence, it galvanizes our claims that our mayor has deliberately brought harm to charities to appease his ego.
