Born Legacy Introduction, 2020
In 2019, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives deemed Barrie to be the worst city for a woman to live in Canada. “This annual study provides a snapshot of the gaps in men and women’s access to economic security, personal security, education, health, and positions of leadership in Canada’s largest 26 metropolitan areas.” (https://www.policyalternatives.ca/publications/reports/best-and-worst-places-be-woman-canada-2019)
Born Legacy is working in tandem with Five Points Media to launch a 10 part series that directly confronts the stark reality of how women become victims of trauma and abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, forced prostitution, and isolation. It will also address through professional analysis and personal experiences how the psychological impact of trauma generates the cycle of addiction. That can then create a never-ending state of victimization in vulnerable women. https://www.facebook.com/BornLegacy2019
“We too, have been victims and we designed ‘Born Legacy’ as a safe place for healing and sharing, said Sasha Parrell, Born Legacy’s co-founder.” Ashley Snowball, also co-founder added: “We guide women by helping them understand what has happened and provide tools to help them heal.”
This series will include brave victims who share their story, along with professionals who have made it their mission to support them. You can watch each episode and learn more about the societal affect trauma has on women. We will also show the impact on our community and how we call all learn to provide empathy and support to those in need.
